Cooper Ashley

Cooper was adopted from the Charleston Animal Society when he was about a year old. Although his life had been turned upside down, he immediately took to his new family, including his two young human brothers, which gave him all the cuddles he could handle. He was never too tired to fetch a ball or play rope tug, but his favorite activity was going out on the water.

Chasing a ball, treeing a squirrel, or barking at a passing car, he was Although a travel treat, accompanying his family on Appalachian mountain hikes was a great way to spend the day and snore through the night at the foot of his parents bed. Unless there was thunder, and then it was off to sleep under the bed of one of his human brothers.

But for Cooper, nothing replaced the pure joy of going to the beach or a day on the boat during the summer... or winter... or whenever he could. Fetching his ball, smashing through the waves, or exploring the edge of the dunes, the beach was endless fun and stimulation. And once he had his sea legs, the bouncing of the boat meant more adventures.

Cooper lived to the age of 14, still as wonderful and eager to meet new friends as he ever was. He will be deeply missed by the neighborhood, where he only knew pats and treats. He always trotted up to approaching people with a welcoming lick and hopes for a scratch behind the ears. You are always in our hearts, Cooper.
